Where in the World is MeekoDev?

leave a comment »

Lately my life has been busy. Going out with friends, meetings and conferences along with errands have taken up my time. I haven’t caught up with Celebrity Apprentice much less watch one of the many  movies queued up in my web browser. My twitter account might as well have been deleted.

What is strange is that I miss my online life. Its not like the addiction I had to EverQuest where I had to be online getting XP and leveling when I wasn’t on a quest. No, this is different.

Before life suddenly got busy Japan had men leaving a nuclear reactor due to the high radiation levels, Charlie Sheen was still on the radio, and the jury was still being picked for the Barry Bonds trial. I was following all of this down to the minute on Twitter and updated news stories at MSNBC and the gossip site TMZ. That instant gratification is what I miss.

So here I am on a Friday night at 4 in the morning, writing this as I plan on getting a bit of sleep before heading out on an errand I didn’t have a chance to get done today. Then starting at five p.m. I will have twenty-four hours to myself.

The question is: what will I watch or read, and how will I adjust to the real life Sunday night?

I am listening to the end of Egyptian President Mubarak’s speech and the crowd reaction after as I write this.  My ideas are flowing and there is no reason to wait to write while they are in my mind.

Several years ago I put my Political Science degree on a bookshelf. My interest in American politics is burned out. There is only so much one can care about the Electoral College and the official way congressional districts are drawn. Still, there are some political things that still draw me in.

My courses in international relations and the different theories are still very helpful. One of those lessons was on international political protests.

I have always been interested in mass protest movements. If a country’s people feel the need to risk their lives, I pay even more attention. This is what peeked my interest in Egypt. Read the rest of this entry »

Twitter and music

leave a comment »

Its one thirty in the morning, and I still haven’t finished the film I started to watch at 5:30. Sure I had a few errands that took two hours, but most of the time was spent on Twitter.

After hours of chatting, someone mentioned music and off I went. I turned to my MeekoDevRadio account and began to spin tunes. By spinning tunes I mean going to YouTube and playing a few hours of videos. For me, its addicting.

Tonight my show mainly consisted of songs of the 1980’s. Sometimes I choose music that I do not prefer. If it is popular a real DJ will still play
